چکیده

Malta Medical Journal Volume 28 Issue 02 2016 Abstract Neurosurgical procedures in cases of Type 1 Arnold Chiari Malformation (ACM) may result in a wide spectrum of complications. We report a case of a sixty-four year lady who underwent an elective posterior fossa decompression for Type 1 ACM. The procedure was complicated by syndrome of inappropriate anti-diuretic hormone secretion (SIADH) and an ischaemic cerebrovascular event affecting the posterior cerebral artery. The association of these complications with the procedure is rarely described in the literature. In spite of the poor prognosis associated with such complications, the patient made a relatively quick and uneventful recovery.

Syndrome of inappropriate anti-diuretic hormone in non-small cell lung carcinoma: a case report

Paraneoplastic syndrome (PNS) related to lung cancer is very common. However, the syndrome of inappropriate anti-diuretic hormone secretion (SIADH) is rare in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We are reporting the case of a 58-year-old female presenting with dyspnea, cough, weight loss, digital clubbing, and one week of haemoptysis. CT showed a mediastinal mass completely encasing her superio...

Persistent syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion following traumatic brain injury

UNLABELLED The syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH) can occur following traumatic brain injury (TBI), but is usually transient. There are very few case reports describing chronic SIADH and all resolved within 12 months, except for one case complicated by meningo-encephalitis. Persistent symptomatic hyponatremia due to chronic SIADH was present for 4 years following a...

Syndrome of inappropriate secretion of anti-diuretic hormone (SIADH) as an initial presenting sign of non small cell lung cancer-case report and literature review

Association of SIADH with malignancy was first reported in 1957, when it was described in two patients with bronchogenic carcinoma. While the association with small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is well known, that with non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has been rarely reported. We report a case of 70 year old male who was found to have hyponatremia secondary to SIADH. Radiological tests revealed ri...
